Drawing from the symbolism of the bat in Taíno culture as messengers of the dead and mediators between worlds-the work acts as a conduit between the living and the ancestral. Bats, often associated with night, caves, and the underworld, become symbolic of unseen labor: pollinators, seed dispersers, and spiritual guides—The work invites viewers to consider the underground not as an end point, but as a place of nourishment and renewal.
